With over 26 years of experience in the oil and gas industry Sergey Chernenkov is recognized as a top performer Completions, Workover & Well Interventions Engineer. He holds an MSc-equivalent degree in Drilling Engineering from Ufa State Petroleum Technical University.
During his first decade in the oilfield, Sergey worked for a number of workover rig contractors. Starting as a roustabout he progressed through every step of the hierarchical ladder in rig operations in multinational projects up the level of rig toolpusher by in Western Siberia. He was then hired as on-job-training Instructor to mentor professional transition of several Russian rig crews in the woods of Orenburg Region in the middle of Russia, and that is when he fell in love with the possibility of sharing his skills and knowledge with other people. “That was one of the most enjoyable experiences throughout my career, and the feelings advanced later to great passion for training.”
Since then he has worked in over 7 countries and covered a broad range of activities in wells’ planning, design, engineering and execution phases, starting from wells ’ Completion throughout the well life cycle – Workover and Interventions, and production optimization until well’s P&A (Plug and Abandon).
Sergey is a member of SPE International, and participate in other professional communities such as Energy Institute UK, Oil-and-Gas-Online, Russian Oil Forum, ICoTA, and many others. In 2008 he received the recognition letter and prize award from SPE Board of Directors for the active participation in SPE eMentoring Program.
