Sunil Mangotra is an oil and gas veteran with over 32 years of experience in Upstream Exploration with India's national oil company ONGC where his roles included Field Chemist/Geochemist/Petroleum System Modeling, Geochemistry expert and Deputy General Manager.

During his three decades in oil and gas, he led and worked with various multidisciplinary teams in evaluation of exploratory areas and preliminary evaluation of Shale Gas acreages in India. He also held several managerial positions with direct responsibility for managing careers and mentoring junior geoscientists.

He had the opportunity to be on two foreign assignments at IFP France & RPS Energy Australia as a Subject Matter Expert on Geochemistry.

Sunil has publications of his work in various international and national journals including:

  • Source rocks along the flanks of Nazira Low , in proceedings of second seminar on Petroliferous basins of India.
  • Determination and analysis of kinetic parameter of hydrocarbon generation of Cambay basin, India.
  • Peak shape analysis of Rock-Eval curves: A case study of Rudrasagar field, Upper Assam Basin, India.
  • Geochemical studies of hydrocarbons in Ramnad-Palk Bay Sub-Basin and their Implication for exploration.
  • Interpretation of maturity parameters evaluated from various biomarker ratios and diamondoids ratios for oil/condensates of Cauvery Basin, India.
  • A comparative study of deposition and characteristics of source rocks of India, Middle East, SW Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico.
